In Feb 2020 the Data, Analytics & Insight group was created within Parkdean Resorts to transform how we get value from our data. Our focus extends across 3 areas; developing a world class next generation cloud platform to support analytics and reporting, the creation of visualisation solutions across all functional areas of the business to drive improved commercial effectiveness, and drive ownership within the business of our organisational data.


This role sits within the visualisation team and is tasked with developing and enhancing our visualisation products across the business, as well as the platforms on which they sit. It reports into the Visualisation Lead.


Key Responsibilities



  • Develop visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop.

  • Connect to data sources, importing data and transforming data for Business Intelligence.

  • Analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.

  • Implement row level security on data and have an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.

  • Understand the business requirements and develop data models accordingly by taking care of the resources.

  • Design methodology and product documentation.

  • Develop shared datasets following best practice guidelines to support reporting using the master data model pattern.

  • Apply transformations to data sources using standard functions and advanced M scripting including the creation and management of Dataflows

  • Use

  • Create compelling reports with a consumer-based focus on interactivity, usability and accessibility as standard, making use of variations in visual capabilities of the platform including customisation where appropriate

  • Adept in the management, publishing and scheduling of reports/datasets in the Power BI Service as per the business requirements.


Qualifications and Experience


Required



  • Two or more years of commercial experience with the Power BI Platform

  • Background in analytics, data presentation, business intelligence and equivalent roles

  • Good knowledge of visualisation design, theory, and best practices

  • Have knowledge and experience in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis.

  • Have knowledge and skills for secondary tools such as Microsoft Azure, SQL data warehouse, third-party extensibility tools for Power BI


Desirable



  • Demonstrable experience of the wider Power Platform

  • Experience of development of tabular datasets using modern Analysis Services platforms

  • Experience in the use of Snowflake Data Warehouse

  • Knowledge of scripting languages e.g Powershell, C#, Python, R, d3.js
