Your checklist for nailing a Complex Manager interview
So, you’re on the lookout for your next career opportunity, are you? Maybe you’ve got some hospitality and management experience, and you’re thinking “What next?”.
Well, we think you should throw your hat into the Complex Manager ring and see where it takes you.
Our Complex Managers keep the wheels turning at our parks by looking after all of our fantastic complexes' food, beverage, and retail units.
Before we dive into some top tips for nailing your interview, we’ll break down the role a little more.
What is the role of a Complex Manager?
As a Complex Manager, your day-to-day will see you looking after the holiday park’s food, beverage and retail units.
You’ll be hands-on with the complex teams that are dedicated to serving up smiles and dishing up delicious dishes, and work with guests yourself from time to time too!
It’s an awesome and varied role if you consider yourself a team player, are hospitality-obsessed and really care about the development of the people around you.

What type of questions are asked in a manager interview?
To smash any manager interview, you’ll want to have a checklist of the kind of questions that could pop up - after all, no one likes to be put on the spot!
Think about what your interviewer will need to know about your skills and experience so you can really show off how you’re a perfect fit for the job. Consider using the STAR Method in your answers too - it should help stay on track with your points.
When it comes to interview questions for managers, we’ve broken down three you’ll want to keep on top of.
1. How do you motivate others?
From this kind of question, your interviewer wants to see how you captain your crew.
They’re curious if you’re the ultimate cheerleader who recognises your team's individual talents and the kind of work environment you create.
If you really want to shine, show off how you’re a communication whiz and empathetic listener who knows when to shout out about your team's unique strengths.
2. Tell me about a difficult decision you had to make at work
In any management interview, when they ask about decision-making, they’re digging into how you make tough calls.
They want to see how you think on your feet, solve problems, and keep your cool.
Another thing they’re looking for here is how you weigh up your options, consider any impacts, and keep your superb squad on track. It’s just another peek into your leadership style.
3. How do you define success as a manager?
Surprise surprise, another question to show off what kind of leader you are!
Do you define your success based on team morale, hitting those targets, fostering growth, big wins, small wins, or something else? Maybe it’s a mix.
To help you prep for this question, see what you can find out about the company’s culture and goals, this will help you figure out if your personal management style fits nicely in line with this.
How should I prepare for my Complex Manager interview?
You’ve put in your application, and you’ve got the interview date all set, what next?
Well, you can brush up on the STAR method we mentioned earlier and use it to show off your skills and talents in the question examples we gave above too. Make sure you really apply your experience to the nature of the role - use real-life examples and apply your experience to managing a holiday park.
