How I Went From Kickstarter to Talent Acquisition Advisor

In November 2021, I unfortunately lost my job, and it was the first time I had ever been unemployed. Fast forward to January 2022 and I still hadn’t found a role that was right for me. My local job centre mentioned one day the government run Kickstart scheme which set out to help young people back into work. As someone who had never been out of work before, I did have my reservations as it was only a 6-month contract for 25 hours a week.

Before long, my work coach mentioned a recruitment role with Parkdean Resorts and deciding that I had nothing to lose, I decided to apply. On Monday the 17th January I started my new job at Parkdean and I instantly felt at ease by the warm welcome I received from everyone. My role involved speaking to candidates after interview and offering them a position with us, putting together offer letters and sending them out to the relevant people. During those early weeks of the scheme, I could tell that it was a fantastic company to be with as they constantly talked about developing their people. After 6 weeks of the kickstart contract, I was over the moon to be offered a full-time permanent position within the Talent Acquisition team.

Since then, my development and my role has gone from strength to strength. I have had the opportunity to travel to parks for recruitment days and help organise the talent team meetings. I have met so many passionate people in the company that make working at Parkdean such a joy. Not to mention all of the weird and wonderful things that go on such as Sparkle and Sid handing out easter eggs in the middle of the day, and a trip to the cinema to watch the management conference. No two days are ever the same at Parkdean and that’s what makes it so fun!

I am so thankful that I took the risk and joined the Kickstart scheme. It has helped shape my career and has given me opportunities I could only dream off and for that I am very thankful. Every day I get to help change people’s lives and help them to start creating amazing memories with us through fantastic careers.
