Job description

We're looking for a proactive and organised Paralegal to join our busy in-house Legal team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on litigation experience, working alongside experienced solicitors on a diverse range of disputes while developing your legal skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Whether you've recently completed your legal studies or are looking for the next step in your legal career, this role offers genuine responsibility, exposure to a varied caseload, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in law. The role sits within a 13-person legal team and offers valuable insight into how a large national business manages legal risk and disputes.

What you will be doing...

  • Assisting solicitors with a varied portfolio of disputes, including consumer claims, commercial and supplier disputes, property matters, Equality Act claims and regulatory issues.
  • Managing your own low-value and high-volume matters from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Drafting correspondence, letters before action, court documents and other case-related paperwork.
  • Preparing court bundles, chronologies and case summaries.
  • Managing deadlines, court directions and key case dates.
  • Liaising with courts, external solicitors, barristers and other parties.
  • Maintaining accurate and organised case files.
  • Gathering evidence and documentation from stakeholders across the business.
  • Supporting efficient case progression and resolution
  • Acting as a first point of contact for day-to-day legal queries from operational teams.

About you...

  • A law degree, LPC, SQE, CILEX qualification or equivalent (or be working towards one).
  • Previous experience in a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or similar role, although we also welcome applications from candidates looking to take their first step into the legal profession.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical, commercial and common-sense approach to problem solving.
  • The confidence to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • An interest in legal technology and process improvement.
  • A genuine passion for pursuing a career in law and litigation.
