23 Years And Counting...

"My career journey in the holiday park business started in 1977 as a cashier in my teens. In 1998, I joined Parkdean Resorts as General Manager and although things back then were a lot different to things now, I’ve enjoyed it for 23 amazing years. Recently I’ve been promoted to Subject Matter Expert, and the experience of moving from management to Subject Matter has been rewarding, though some days I miss the people and the fun you experience on park. I enjoy the busy family life on park, watching families grow up and youngsters coming in and progressing to managers within the business.

Both my daughters work at Parkdean Resorts at Sundrum Castle. Lynsey started when she was just 15 in the retail shop, and she’s had the opportunity to progress to a Guest Experience Manager role. Nicola is the Complex Manager. My son and grandson have also experienced working on park with Parkdean on a number of occasions- It’s amazing to see them all grow into their own people and the opportunities Parkdean have presented have been great.

Parkdean Resorts offers great opportunities to those willing to learn, put in the work and be able to multitask. It’s a fast-growing business and that’s what I’ve loved about it, watching the business grow and watching my team succeed and develop. My biggest achievement has been watching my daughters grow within the business, picking up awards and developing their own teams.

It's been a busy 45 years and holiday park life has offered amazing opportunities that now my family can develop and grow from. I’ve always managed a good work life balance even with the pace of the business. I’m on the Ayershire rugby coaching team, I have a beautiful family and I’ve been mentioned in articles outside the business for my work here at PDR. It’s a proud moment.
