Job description



Leadership and development of the Group Finance team.  Delivering 1st class service to both internal and external customers.  Inspiring the team to drive excellence and continuous improvement.  The Group Finance team delivers all of the external financial reporting for the business including statutory financial statements and the Group Tax team delivers direct and indirect tax compliance and optimisation.

Group Finance

Responsible for the management of the Group Finance team including:

  • Statutory reporting – IFRS plus PERG requirements and gradual move towards Plc compliant reporting (process, data integrity & internal controls).
  • Management of the audit process.
  • Preparation of board and investor balance sheet and cashflow reporting.
  • Preparation of both regular and ad-hoc reports to the Audit Committee.
  • Bank and rating agency reporting and compliance with Senior Facilities Agreement including preparation of all interest payments and management of lender queries.
  • Accounting for below EBITDA P&L and specific balance sheet areas including investments, goodwill, inter-company balances, loans and equity.
  • Working with the FP&A team as required to contribute to the forecasting and budgeting process.
  • Management of shareholder debt and shareholder value calculations.
  • Management of balance sheet reconciliation and review process, reporting on position and ensuring actions are addressed.
  • Lead project work implementing new accounting standards as applicable.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of an appropriate and robust control framework across the Finance Department.
  • Assisting the Head of Tax as required including provision of information for calculating quarterly Corporation Tax instalment payments.
  • Provision of information to the Head of Tax for calculation of corporation tax provisions and computations.
  • Reporting to external bodies and agencies.
  • Acquisitions & disposals – involved in modelling, DD and integration.
  • Educating the business on technical developments.

 

Management and leadership

  • Lead and manage the team as a proactive, highly skilled and engaged team, providing strong financial support to the business and delivering high quality reporting.
  • Motivate and inspire the team.
  • Encourage a culture of professionalism and respect, including commitment to a high level of quality control and timeliness of delivery.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of highly skilled staff.
  • Resource management and high utilisation of all staff.
  • Nurturing talent within the team and maintaining a training and development framework across the team.
  • Take an active part in driving improvements in the overall finance product and the culture of the Finance team.
  • Be an inspirational agent of change and drive team engagement towards delivering excellence.
  • Development and engagement of the team setting and reviewing annual objectives for direct reports and wider team, holding regular 121’s and quarterly performance reviews.
  • On occasion you may be asked to perform additional duties or duties unrelated to your role after appropriate training has been given.
  • You have a duty to safeguard your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, customers and visitors. You also have a duty to co-operate with management to enable it to comply with its health and safety duties.
  • Ensuring quality, compliance and health & safety standards across Finance.
  • Working closely with the IT and systems team to drive improvements in the business IT and finance systems – particularly in relation to efficiency and ease of use for operators.
  • Weekly reporting to the Group Financial Controller on progress within the team and daily updates of issues as they arise.

Technical expert on reporting, accounting and process engineering:

  • Maintenance of own up to date technical knowledge.
  • Training and development of own team and wider Finance team.
